Trading away Mexico: NAFTA tightens its grip

Across the globe people are participating in activities, actions and advocacy during the Globe Week of Action which highlights how free trade policies actually do more harm than good.

Speakers:

  • Mexican community activist speaking about resisting the Canadian mining company Metallica Resources.
  • Bishop Sue Moxley, shares insights from a recent ten day delegation to Mexico examining the impacts of trade liberalization.
  • John Foster, Common Frontiers, speaks about the real story behind proposals for a deeper integration between NAFTA partners.
  • Moderator - Gerry Barr, CCIC, Make Poverty History Campaign.

Oxfam’s Global Week of Action launch party

A colourful celebration to promote trade justice and sustainable livelihoods worldwide.

The launch event will provide information on fair-trade products and how you, your friends and family can become involved in Oxfam’s “Make Trade Fair” campaign, while contributing to the promotion of global trade justice.

The program has a huge range of activities throughout day that will appeal to all ages, including:

  • Live music featuring local artists
  • Information sessions
  • Face-painting for children
  • Educational games and quizzes
  • Fair-trade crafts, coffee and more
