Week of events including parliamentary meetings and trade justice caravan and concert

The aims of the week in Senegal are to highlight the harmful effects of EU subsidies on the production of food products in Senegal, particularly on rice, milk powder and chicken, highlight the adverse effects of enforced privatisation of basic services, such as health, education and water, and develop alternatives for food security in Senegal.

Parliamentary meetings in Dakar - 10 April
Highlighting the effects of international trade on rice, chicken, onions and milk production in Senegal, including handing in a trade petition to the Trade Minster and a series of dinner-debates.

Trade campaign caravan - All Week
Starting in Dakar on April 11, ending up in Kaolack on April 16, stopping off in various cities along the route. The caravan will have actors and musicians who will explain trade issues.

Trade conference - 13 April
At the University of St Louis.

Closing event in Kaolack - 16 April
Including a conference, debates, and a handing over of petition to the government. The major public event of the week will be a concert with well known musicians singing on the theme of Trade Justice.
